2010 consultations

Pathways to Recovery: a manifesto for drug and alcohol treatment

2009 consultations

eATA consultation: the recovery statement
We invited members to submit their comments on the UKDPC Consensus Statement on recovery and its relevance to treatment services. The statement was the result of a consensus group representing a wide range of perspectives, and since its publication earlier this year it has already generated a considerable amount of debate within the drug treatment field.

Alcohol dependence and harmful alcohol use
EATA responded to a consultation by NICE on the draft scope of clinical guidelines on alcohol dependence and harmful alcohol use. The consultation on the draft guidelines is scheduled for the summer 2010.

Improving the value of drug treatment systems
eATA responded to a consultation by the NTA on draft assumptions for a proposal model of drug treatment systems, and a related tool, that can help commissioning partnerships in delivering the best possible outcomes from the available resources for their treatment systems.

The NOMS Drug Strategy
eATA responded to a consultation by the Ministry of Justice on the NOMS Drug Strategy, which covers how treatment is delivered across prisons and probation.

The future development of alcohol treatment 
eATA responded to a consultation by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Alcohol misuse on the future development of alcohol treatment. We highlighted where improvements need to be made, particularly in funding and strategic planning.

eATA consultation - DWP Green Paper: No one written off: reforming welfare to reward responsibility
Members made their voice heard on the DWP Green Paper at a consultation meeting organised by eATA on 23 September 2008 to discuss the changes to the benefit system and the proposed new regime for problem drug users to "break the cycle of dependency". Download your copy of the Green Paper here.

Draft NICE guidelines on Needle and Syringe Programmes: consultation
Following consultation with our members, eATA responded to NICE on new draft public health guidance on providing needle and syringe programmes (NSPs) among injecting drug users.

eATA Consultation: delays in processing DWP payments
eATA consulted members on DWP payments following reports that DWP delays in processing benefit claims (housing, unemployment, etc) for clients in residential care were leaving providers out of pocket and unable to claim the costs back. eATA expects to hear back from the department over the autumn months.

Draft guidance for Young People's Specialist Substance Misuse Treatment
eATA responded on the draft guidance for young people's specialist substance misuse treatment which has just been published by the NTA.

The future regulation of health and adult social care in England: A consultation on the framework for the registration of health and adult social care providers
Members had their say on the implications for residential services being proposed by the Department of Health.We will communicate to members the outcomes of this exercise later this year.

National Treatment Agency (NTA) guidance on clinical governance in drug treatment
Members who provide and commission treatment helped to influence the shape of the final guidance document. A final version of the document will be published later this year but you can still read the draft document by following this link.

Review of Communications Strategy - NOMS Prison Drug Strategy Team (DST)
eATA worked with DST to help review the media and key messages currently being used, identify gaps in provision and produce a series of new resources. The Communications Strategy Project was driven by the views of consultation groups comprising key policy makers, operational staff and prisoners. (May 08)

eATA consultation response to the Home Office on the National Drug Strategy 2008-2017
The government has now published its 10-year Drug Strategy: Drugs protecting families and communities. eATA was actively involved in its development, particularly through consultation and communications with members to make sure that their concerns were heard. (Feb 08)

Care Standards
Following a strong campaign from the field, co-ordinated by eATA, the government has backed down on all the main problematic elements of its care standards proposals for England.
