Supporting and involving carers
A guide from the NTA aimed primarily at commissioners and providers. It lays out evidence that indicates meaningful support of carers can mean improved treatment outcomes for users as well as benefiting the individual carer. Access the document here.  

Treatment Outcomes Profiles
This document from the NTA is an Interim Revised Guidance and highlights two key changes to the completion and reporting protocol of TOPs. The document also announces the NTA's plan for starting to feedback outcomes data derived from TOPs submissions to the field and seeks to provide clarity around time anchor points for completion of Review TOPs. Improving practice in housing for drug users
This practice paper is aimed primarily at informing and helping those involved in commissioning, planning and delivering housing housing services, related residential rehabilitation, and support services for drug users. It will also interest anyone working with drug users with related housing needs through the criminal justice system, health and social care (hospital and community-based services) or those working with vulnerable groups.
The paper, which is a living document, contains 13 case studies offering examples of how housing, drug and mental health services have worked together to find sustainable and successful housing solutions for drug users. Access the document here.

Improving the quality and provision of Tier 4 interventions as part of client treatment journeys
New guidance which aims to improve both capacity and access with regards to residential treatment has been launched by the NTA. The guidance will help both commissioners and service providers plan for and purchase effective drug treatment services in the Tier 4 sector. Download the document here.

Young people's specialist substance misuse needs assessment and treatment planning 2009/10
The good practice guidance focuses on the process to identify the needs of young people requiring specialist substance misuse treatment. The outcome of this process should contribute to the local Children and Young Peoples Plans to deliver effective services to young people to ensure achievement of the “Every Child Matters” outcomes for children.

This guidance outlines proposed submission and assessment arrangements for young people’s commissioners to use in their planning processes in partnership with NTA regional teams and other local and regional partners.
